Psychological Safety

Findings from an extensive four-year study, involving numerous Google teams, uncovered a consistent trait among the highest-performing ones: psychological safety.

The teams with the highest psychological safety were less likely to leave, more likely to harness diverse ideas, meet the organisational goals, contribute to a positive culture and bring in more revenue.

Fostering a culture of psychological safety means everyone feels safe to speak up, share ideas, ask questions and raise concerns. This leads to greater creativity, innovation and growth. Feeling safe, valued and involved allows individuals to bring their whole self to work, feeling part of the journey and the success.

However, according to data from Gallup research, only 3 in 10 workers strongly agree their opinions count. So how can we promote psychological safety within our teams to enhance performance, health and happiness?
